by Susan E. Roser

Susan E. Roser is descended from Henry Cobb and James Cole. Her Mayflower descent through Isaac and Mary (Norris) Allerton led to her membership in the General Society of Mayflower Descendants through the Canadian Society in 1981. She has served the Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants as Editor of their newsletter, Canadian Pilgrim (1982-1997); Governor (2001-2003), Deputy Governor (2000-2001, 2003-2013 ) and has served as Historian since 1993. She has served the General Society  as Deputy Governor General (2001-   ) and Assistant General (1996-2000) She was elected for 2 terms as Secretary General  (2011 -2017) and in 2017 was nominated for Assistant Governor General.

In 2003, Ms. Roser wrote a Mayflower Research course that is offered by the University of Toronto’s Genealogical Institute of Online Studies. The accompanying book is entitled Finding your Mayflower Ancestors and is available from Heritage Productions, Toronto, Ont.

She is the author of a series of Mayflower reference books, viz: Mayflower Increasings (1989, 2nd ed.1995), Mayflower Marriages (1990), Mayflower Births & Deaths, 2 vols. (1992) and Mayflower Deeds & Probates (1994), all of which were published by the Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore, Maryland.

Over the years she has written Mayflower research articles for several genealogical journals such as The Mayflower Quarterly, The Mayflower Descendant and The American Genealogist.

While the author has specialized in Mayflower research with her previous endeavors, this book marks the first of several volumes to be published on non-Mayflower families.  Note however that there are many, many Mayflower marriages and families within these volumes and therefore many Mayflower lines are covered.

In 2011, a new Mayflower book was published, Mayflower Passenger References (from contemporary records & scholarly journals). For more information, visit www.mayflower-passenger.com .
